Don had speech therapy twice today and sat in a chair for 2 hours. Since the weekend is coming up, Don has homework which includes chewing gum. He is also going to be working on writing with his left hand which would be a stretch for any of us right-handed folks. He liked his dinner much better than his lunch (lunch - fish and rice, dinner - beef in gravy and potatoes).
We truly know he is on the mend - he can change the channels for the TV ON HIS OWN! Don is back at the controls!
His nurse today told Britney that doctors have come by who have worked with Don previously in the ICU and are amazed by his condition. They are saying "he is an inspiration to them".
Hopefully tomorrow he will be on the 8th floor wearing real clothes and having LOTS of physical therapy.
Keep those comments and cards coming. He really enjoys them. Those words of encouragement will help in the days ahead.

I'm so glad to be able to keep up with Don's progress. My daughter, Julie Samuelson, is one of the nurses on the floor with Don, as I understand it. I know she is a terrific nurse and will do whatever she can to care for him.
