Don Eaton Monday June 2, 2008

The day started with Don having been moved to St. Luke's hospital in Kansas City, MO. Several specialists were reviewing his condition. It appeared he was not progressing, and perhaps was suffering some additional impact from the clot. It was determined to try a procedure using a "wire" to go into his artery via his leg. The physicians worked for over two hours trying to unblock the artery and restore some level of blood flow through the blockage.

Unfortunately, they were not able to make progress. The physician who performed the procedure indicated it had been their desire to "jump start" his natural healing process, but since they had not been successful the healing process which had already started would continue, though at a slower pace.

Don's wife, daughter and mother are with him, as well as other immediate family. Joshua arrives later tonight from Portland. Since Don's condition is requiring he rest the number of visitors is being limited.

Our good friend who has carried so many loads for others now needs us to come alongside him. Even as his challenges seemed to compound he has never been one to complain, criticize, or "return evil for evil." If ever there were a man who exemplified grace, it is Don Eaton. It is not hard to pray and have faith for someone like him!

Pray for a miracle. Pray for courage and strength for the family. Pray that those who are overseeing his care will have unusual grace and wisdom from Christ Himself.

And now may the presence of Christ be with us all. In spite of the questions and disappointment, and through the darkness of discouraging events may we know that the Lord of Don's life has not left Don's side, nor has He forgotten us.

Barb, Brittany & Josh,
Our heart is heavy with concern and love for you.
My prayer today is that God, will heal Don and give him full recovery,
Surround you with His presence and to give all the Doctors and staff the assurance and wisdom as they care for Don.
We love you all and will trust in the Great Physician for His will to be done.

Barbara and Family,
We spent time in prayer for Don and the family this morning. It makes our heart so sad that Don is going through this but we have confidence that God is going to keep Don in his loving care. My prayer this morning was that God will show the doctors a new way to heal Don so he will be whole again. We love you all greatly and will continue to lift you in our prayers. Jer. 33:3

This is from Larry Thomas. I will let the Leavenworth Nazarene church know what has happened so they too may start praying for Don.
Darlene and I will pray for his healing.

Dear family, I have something I want to share with you about my father-in-law, Raymond Carroll who is a Church of God (Anderson, IN) preacher. He won't mind me sharing this story as he loves to tell it, too. Years ago he had lymphoma cancer and underwent treatment. Blue Cross Blue Shield dropped him after he reached his max. God provided by having the hospital forgive the debt. His cancer came back again while he was preaching at Chanute, KS. He went through treatment again at the VA hosptial in Wichita. I believe this was in 1981-82. He looked like the African children that were starving with the swollen tummy (the spleen) but still very gaunt looking. He had surgery for a shunt to be put in. The drs. did all they could and sent him home to die. Duane, my husband who was 19 yrs. old at the time, carried him in and put him to bed. From the pictures I've seen he looked like death with his pale, waxy skin and emaciated look. Duane was living with his family and working where he could to help provide for his family. Several area ministers from different denominations came over and laid hands on him. They annointed him and prayed for healing. It took about a year for him to recover, but he did! Dad C. promised God that as long as he had breath he would preach the word of God. He did have one heart attack several years later due to the chemo treatment but he recovered and he is still preaching. In July he will turn 82 years old. What a lot to celebrate.

I pray that the Master physician will grant Don a miraculous recovery that will astound the medical establishment. For when God wants to do something it will be so He can get the glory not man. Meanwhile, I pray that you all have total wisdom to know what to do, peace, calmness, and joy through all this.

I miss you, Don and hope to see you soon. much love and prayers from your cousin, Karen Carroll

Don:
My heart is heavy when I think of all that you, my good friend, are going through. But my heart is also uplifted when I am reminded that the Lord's presence is with you, Barb, Brittany, and Josh. Don, we are praying for you and are assured that your strength and your faith will bring you through this and that you will come forth as gold! I am thrilled to read that you still have your smile, your grip, and your eternal optimism! God bless you, Cowboy!
