Eventful Sunday

Don had a great first night home trying out his new shower, having dinner with his family and watching football. Sunday, he went to church and was again welcomed by all who were so very excited to see the miracle they had been praying for. After lunch out, he made the long awaited trip to the farm to see his much loved horses. The neighbors have done a tremendous job keeping up with the horses for the last 3 months. Since Josh has moved home, he and Dale, Don's brother, have spent time loving on Don's horses and I am sure hard work is also involved. A hugh thank you to all the Hillsdale neighbors who have kept Don's dream alive.

Hello Don and Barb,
Carol and I just heard about your recent struggle. In talking with Barb tonight, it sounds like God is doing a great work in restoring your health. We rejoice in this answered prayer! You are on our prayer list and we are believing that God will continue his healing touch.
Pleased with the Prospects,

I am so proud of your progress Dad. I don't know if everyone knows this, but a stroke survivor can continue to make progress indefinitely. So there is never a time limit. Already Dad can walk with minimal assistance and it is only a matter of time until he walks on his own and transfers himself on his own. His speech has greatly improved even in the three weeks since I was last in NE. I want to stress that his improvement is continual. Older medical research will tell you that there is a time limit to rehab success. But with newer research in neuroplasticity it is proven that the brain continues to find new pathways.
I also want to congratulate my mom on how well she has been doing. She has worked tirelessly with dad in Nebraska. Mom: you're doing a great job! I love you.
Dad: keep trying hard everyday. Listen to Mom about putting weight on your right leg...keep trying hard and no leaping into chairs!
I love you both!

It was exciting for all of us at the barn to see Don's face light up when his horses came to meet him. Although the horses were initially concerned about the wheelchair, each walked up to Don, put his/her head down, and said "Yup, this is our Dad. Where have you been? We missed you."
Don, everyone missed you coming out for the past months. We look forward to having you come out regularly real soon. Until then, we will help Josh take care of the horses so that you can enjoy meny happy moments touching and talking with them.
